Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, Feb. 2014

This study examined the habituation of avoidance responses to moving stimuli in zebrafish larvae at 7 days post fertilization. Larvae received repeated exposures to either a moving or stationary stimulus followed by a test with the moving stimulus. During the test, larvae that were previously exposed to the moving stimulus were less likely to avoid the stimulus, rested less frequently, and were more active than those that were exposed to the stationary stimulus. These results provide evidence for learning and memory in very young zebrafish larvae.
